The 2014 Ten Mile Lake sailing season begins June 28 with several clinics for new sailors and races for more experienced ones.

On Saturday, June 28, we’ll hold our annual tune-up race where we make sure we have our boats rigged properly and have located all of our gear from the year before.

Then, the following Saturday on July 5, we'll hold the Fourth of July Regatta followed by the annual kickoff party at the Moos cabin. Everyone's invited.

The following day, July 6, we’ll hold the first in a series of informal sailing clinics.

The classes -- taught by volunteers -- begin at 1 p.m. on the Moos dock. If you’re interested, please email the This email address is being protected from spambots. For the first time, on July 12, we’ll hold an “All-comers race” where boats of different types will have an opportunity to race. Places will be determined by a handicapping system. This will give sailors who don’t have C-boats an opportunity to fine-tune their skills.

On July 26, we’ll hold the Moxness Cup Regatta -- traditionally the marquee race of the season -- followed by a sailing clinic the next day.

All races begin at 1:30 p.m. Saturday. In case of foul weather, the races will be held at 10:30 a.m. Sunday. The clinics will be held beginning at 1 p.m. on the Moos dock.
